Mangal Dosha
Also written Manglik · Kuja Dosha · Mars affliction
Mangal Dosha ("the Mars flaw"), also Kuja Dosha, is a placement of Mangal (Mars) that tradition examines before a marriage. Someone who has it is called Manglik.
It is counted when Mars sits in the 1st, 2nd, 4th, 7th, 8th or 12th house, houses where Mars's heat is said to press on married life. Many astrologers count those houses from three points in the chart, the Lagna (ascendant), the Moon and Venus, and grade the result: marked from one point it is mild, from two or three strong.
Tradition also names common cancellations. Mars in its own signs (Aries, Scorpio) or exalted (Capricorn) is held to cancel it, and when both partners are Manglik it is said to balance out between them. Like the rest of Kundli Matching, it is read as something to understand and handle with care, not as a bar to marriage.
